Dr. Babaniyi Babatope – Director and Chief Executive OfficerDr. Babaniyi Babatope resumed duty on the 1st of October 2005 as the Chief Executive Officer of EMDI. Prior to his assumption as the Director of the Institute, he was a Senior Lecturer in Materials Science at the Physics Department, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife.
He obtained a B.Sc in Engineering Physics (Materials) in 1981 and an M.Sc in Engineering Physics (Materials Science & Engineering ) in 1985 from the University of Ife, Ile-Ife. Nigeria. He also obtained a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering in 1990 from the University of Wales, Swansea, Wales. U.K and an MBA in Corporate Management in 1993 from the Swansea Institute of Higher Education, University of Wales, Swansea, U.K.
He is a member of many professional bodies which among others include; Materials Society of Nigeria (MSN); Nigerian Materials Research Society, Polymer Institute of Nigeria (MPIN); and British Society of Rheology, United Kingdom.He has been member of Materials Research Society (USA), Institute of Physics (UK) and Institute of Materials (UK). He is the National Secretary of the Materials Society of Ngeria which he helped formed with others.
Dr. Babatope specialises in Polymers and Composite Materials and is currently active in the area of Structure-Property Relations in Structured Materials and Polymer Electronics. He has several publications publications made in learned journals and processional conference and workshop proceedings. He is married with children. He is a native of Ijebu-Ijesha in Osun State. He is married with children.
Engr. Bankole Adeoye Olunlade– Deputy Director (Engineering) Engr. B.A. Olunlade resumed dutyin 1998 as Chief Engineer. He is the head of Production and Manufacturing Division of the Institute. He holds a B.Sc in Engineering Physics/ Materials Science from then Universityof Ife, Ile-Ife, (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife) Nigeria in 1982, a Post Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Nigeria (1987), Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ado-Ekiti, Ado-Ekiti (2000) and M. Eng in Mechanical Engineering (Production Engineering option) from Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria (2006). Engr. Olunlade registered as an Engineer with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 1996, became an Affiliate member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (1988), Associate Member Nigerian Institute of Management (1989), Corporate Member Nigeria Society of Engineers (1992). He is also a member of Material Society of Nigeria (MMSN). He is married with children.
Mr. Samuel Olusola Ilelaboye– Deputy Director (Finance) Mr. Samuel Olusola Ilelaboye is the Deputy Director (Finance). He holds an HND in Accountancy in 1986 and Master in Business Administration in 2000. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (2008) .
Mrs. Olayinka Adunni Komolafe– Chief Administrative OfficerMrs Olayinka Aduni Komolafe is the Chief Administrative Officer of EMDI. She holds a B.A (ED) in English from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria (1989), MIR in International Relations Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 1997, MPA from University of Ado – Ekiti, Ekiti, Nigeria in 2000. Mrs Komolafe is an Associate Member Nigerian Institute of Management (2002), Affiliate Member Institute of Personnel Management (2002).
Engr. Smart Adeleye Olubayode. Engr. Smart Adeleye Olubayode is the Assistant Chief Engineer and the head of Technical Services. He holds an HND in Civil Engineering (1998), a Postgraduate Diploma in Civil Engineering (1998), MBA (2001), M.Eng. (in view)
He is a registered Engineer with COREN – 2005, a Member of Nigeria Society of Engineers. Engr. Joseph Oladimeji Alasoluyi- Principal Engineer. Engr. J.O. Alasoluyi is the Acting Head of Foundry Department in EMDI. He holds a B.Eng. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (1992) from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. He is a Professional Member of Materials Society of Nigeria.
He has undertaken some research work which includes; the design of heat treatment, using local material (60%), comparative study of mechanical properties of forged and rolled medium steel, determining the pouring temperature of high chromium casting in sand casting process, and the production of ductile iron from locally fabricated rotary furnace among another.
Engr. A.S. Idowu - Head of Manufacturing He holds an OND in Agricultural Engineering from the Polytechnic Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria in 1988, a B.Eng in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State (1995), M.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering (Production Engineering option) from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria in 2003 and MBA form the University of Ado – Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. Engr. Idowu is a registered Engineer with Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), 2002; a Professional Member of Materials Society of Nigeria (2001) and was one time the National financial secretary of the society, a member of Nigerian Institute of Engineering Management (NIEM). He has researched into some material related works with papers published of which include; Oxy-Fuel Techniques for the Melting of Cast Iron in Rotary Furnace, Design and Optimization of a 100 kg Rotary Furnace for the Production of Ductile Iron among others.
Mr. Famakin Olubunmi A. – Principal Internal AuditorMr. O.A Famakin is the Head of Audit department. He holds an HND in Accountancy from The Polytechnic Ibadan (1996), a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management (2000) from University of Ado Ekiti and a Master in Business Administration in 2005. He is a fellow of Institute Chartered Management Auditors (FICMA).
Mr. B. E. AttahDaniel- Principal Research & Development OfficerMr. B. E AttahDaniel resumed duty on February 1, 1999. He holds a B.Tech in Chemistry (1992) from FUT Yola, and M.Tech in Analytical Chemistry from FUT Akure. He is a member of the Materials Society of Nigeria (MSN) and also a professional member of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICON) 2006. His various research efforts have made him take a look into the Cyanogenic Potentials of Cassava for Case Hardening and Environmental Friendliness. He also participated in Gasification using Ordinary Air.
Mr. AttahDaniel is presently the Head, R&D Department. He is a native of Wukari in Taraba State. He is married with children.
Mr. Olayemi Ajibola Opeola- Principal Planning Officer Mr. Olayemi Ajibola Opeola is the Head of Planning Department in the Institute. He holds a B.Sc. in Metallurgical and MaterialsEngineering (1994) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria, a postgraduate diploma in Business Management (1998) from Edo state University Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria; MBA in Marketing Management (2002) from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Nigeria. He is registered as an Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) in 2008 and also a member of the Materials Society of Nigeria (MMSN).
